Best of Fall 2008 Runways
Here are my picks! This fall you will see floor length skirts, belle curbs, plaid and what I call super hero costumes!
creepy dolls!
Buying is much more American than thinking I’m as American as they come.
Don’t pay any attention to what they write about you. Just measure it in inches.
Drag queens are living testimony to the way women used to be to be, the way some people still want them to be, and the way some women will actually want to be. Drags are ambulatory archives of ideal moviestar womanhood. They perform a documentary service, usually consecrating their lives to keeping the glittering alternative alive and available for (not-too-close) inspection.
I love Los Angeles. I love Hollywood. They’re beautiful. Everybody’s plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic.
I suppose I have a really loose interpretation of ‘work’, because I think that just being alive is so much work at something you don’t always want to do. Being born is like being kidnapped. And then sold into slavery. People are working every minute. The machinery is always going. Even when you sleep.
I think having land and not ruining it is the most beautiful art that anybody could ever want to own.
I’m confused about who the news belongs to. I always have it in my head that if you name’s in the news, then the news should be paying you. Because it’s your news and they’re taking it and selling it as their product…If people didn’t give the news their news, and if everybody kept their news to themselves, the news wouldn’t have any news.
It’s the movies that have really been running things in America ever since they were invented. They show you what to do, how to do it, when to do it, how to feel about it, and how to look how you feel about it. Everybody has their own America, and then they have the pieces of a fantasy America that they think is out there but they can’t see.
The mosquito is the state bird of New Jersey.

Being a child of the 80s, I was surrounded by Cheech and Chong. So when I heard that Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are getting back together and touring, I almost peed my pants from excitement! It has been 30 years since UP IN SMOKE! By the way did you guys see Cheech on Dancing with the Stars?
They have plans for a Live Nation promoted comedy tour, called “Hey, What’s That Smell?.” Details on the tour will be announced tomorrow, Wednesday July 29 at West Hollywood’s Troubadour (where it all got started in the early 70’s)
1972-1985, the pair released nine comedy albums and eight features, all of which were helmed by Chong.
DIY Framed Paperdolls
1. Fold a piece of paper like an accordion
2. On the top of the folded paper, draw a figure of a doll, so that each hand hits the edge of the paper
3. Cut the figure out with scissors, but be careful not to cut the end of the hands where the paper folds. This is how the dolls stay attached when opened up.
4. Glue the dolls to a black background and put it in a fun colorful frame!
