My Joy Division Treasure Chest

Joy Division is a band a head of it’s time. A brilliant moment in music history. I am a huge Ian Curtis fan. he wrote iincredible lyrics and I’d really like to have danced with him! I have included a photo of the book Deborah Curtis wrote about her life with Ian and a photo of her in present day. This is the book the movie Control is based on. Photographs by Kevin Cummings and Pierre Rene-Worms. Orginal flyer and a pic of his grave site. My heart goes out to Deborah.

Red Over Green

No matter which color you chose, bell peppers are loaded with age fighting antioxidants but the red ones have a super power punch. The red bell pepper is disease fighting machine with its phenol content. Red bells are also high in vitamin C. The wonderful antioxidant that keeps your skin and blood vessels young.

Try this salad recipe I learned in Sofia Bulgaria…..

>1large Red Bell Pepper,1 Large Green Bell Pepper, 1 Large Yellow Bell Pepper, 1 Large seedless cucumber, 2 Large Tomatoes, Handful chopped Green Onion,

Cut everything into hearty size chucks and place into bowl

Use equal parts of sunflower oil and your choice of vinegar

sprinkle salt over salad and toss

Boil 4 Eggs and cut them into slices over salad

egg yolk will mix with oil and vinegar for a great dressing

add feta cheese and enjoy!

Color Psychology

Color has a profound effect on us mentally and physically. Most of the time we are not aware of it.

BLUE> Slows your pulse rate, lowers body temperature & reduces appetite. The color of both the sky and ocean, is the most popular of colors. Blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals. Blue can as well be cold and depressing. In China blue is associated with immortality. For Jews blue symbolizes holiness. In Colombia, blue is associated with soap. For the Hindus blue is the color of Krishna.

RED>Stimulates a faster heartbeat, raises blood pressure and increases breathing. It is the color we pay the most attention to. Red is the warmest and most energetic color in the spectrum. We associate red with love and emergency exit signs. Red clothing gets notices and makes the wearer appear heavier. In India red is the color of purity. In China red symbolizes celebration and luck.

BLACK> The absence of light and color. Black is the color of authority and power. Black clothing will make you appear thinner. It is a timeless color. Priests wear black to signify submission to god. We associate black with sophistication, evil, death, formality and underground.

GREEN> Is one of the most popular colors along side of blue. Green is the easiest color on the eyes and can actually improve your vision. It is a calming and refreshing color that has great healing powers. In China a green hat means his wife is cheating on him. In India green is the color of Islam. In some tropical countries green is associated with danger. Seamstresses often refuse to use green thread on the eve of a fashion show for fear it will bring bad luck.

Purple> Represents royalty and is considered an exotic color. Purple is rare in nature and come across as artificial or of arrogance. Purple dye was made from the mucous gland of a snail back in the day causing it to be super pricey.

YELLOW> The attention getting color. It is sunny and optimistic. In Asia yellow is sacred. Yellow enhances concentration and speeds metabolism. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take. Babies cry more and adults loose their tempers often in yellow rooms.

Sid Vicious: No-one is Innocent

Sid Vicious: No-one is Innocent, a revealing and intimate photographic exhibition of the most infamous and tragic of punk icons. Featuring exclusive, never-before-seen pictures from key punk photographers from the late 1970s, the show will shine new light on Sid’s chaotic life in the spotlight with his band-mates in the Sex Pistols, as well as his ill-fated relationship with the notorious Nancy Spungen. The show which runs until 11th August at Proud Camden is one exhibit that should not be missed and yet here I am missing it!

The show is not just a photography exhibit they have included  elements of film and live music working alongside the photographs. Punk guru Alan Parker, director of the film Who Killed Nancy? (due for release this year) and luxury electronics brand Pioneer helps bring the elements together. The Sex Pistols tribute band The Sex Pistols Experience will playing at the opening night and throughout the exhibition run. Fans get a sneak preview of the film and previously unseen footage of Sid and the Pistols during the exhibit.
